Just because palliative care is for the last part of our lives, doesn’t mean it is any less important. During the last part of our lives we tend to get ill, this illness can be fast or prolonged. Palliative care is there to help you through that last stage to ensure you or your loved one is as comfortable as possible but also as full of life as possible.

While passing is inevitable it does not have to be isolating, lonely or more difficult than it needs to be. We’re here to look after you or your loved one, we do this by assisting with medications, personal care such as washing and dressing, visits to other healthcare providers, another person to lean on to ask questions or take the load of coordinating care with other health care professionals, but mostly kindness and compassion.

Our carers and us as a business care about you. We’re there to treat you like we would our own family members. Sometimes families can’t be there all the time, and I know we cannot replace your son, daughter, father, mother, or others but we will be as compassionate and caring as we would be to ours own family.

Costs vary and for us this is not based on your needs, whereas a lot of companies will, as you or your loved ones condition deteriorates, start adding on fees and increase costs – we don’t. Our price is the same for anyone regardless of how complex your care needs are.

The only variable for us is distance. To make sure we keep our fantastic carers, we pay them well, and we also pay them for their time to travel to your location and also a per mile fuel to include wear & tear allowance to keep them on the road.

We build this into your hourly price, but we don’t charge you extra if a carer has to travel further one day. Once you get a price from us it wont change as your condition changes. Our most popular package of care in the home costs around £220 per week.

Yes, from hourly care to overnight support to live-in care we want to be able to let you stay in your home for as long as you wish by giving you the support that you need to do so.

In some cases, you may qualify to have your home care fees covered by the NHS or your local council. This will be dependent on your situation and your individual health condition. You can begin an application to your council for home care costs by filling in a needs assessment on the GOV website.

In both cases we can work with you as an approved provider for both organisations. Check out our “Continued Healthcare Funding From The NHS” blog for more about funded access to home care.

If you have a serious illness or disability you may be entitled to the NHS continuing healthcare package. This covers the full cost of your care, whether that is in your own home, or a care home and includes:

  • Healthcare
  • Personal Care
  • Fees (care home or accommodation)

If you have a “primary health need” you may qualify for NHS continuing healthcare. This means that the majority of the care you receive must manage your health needs, rather than personal or social care requirements.

Although the assessment process can be complex, a successful application ensures that your health care is completely covered by the NHS. To arrange the initial screening process speak to a GP, social worker, or health professional.
